radiation therapy hodgkin’s lymphoma

radiation therapy hodgkin's lymphoma
Hodgkin’s Lymphoma treatment and fertility of woman?

My girlfriend had Hodgkin’s Lymphoma (3rd stage) when she was 14. She spent 3 years doing her therapy.
She had 14 Chemotherapy and 3 Radiation therapy.

We been together for quiet sometimes and I am worried about her fertility after all those treatments?
Do you think her fertility could be effected? (not having it)
Forgot to add her current age: 22

She likely had ABVD chemotherapy, which is associated with very, very low infertility rates (but not zero). Several studies have confirmed this. If she had radiation to the ovaries, that would definitely increase her risk, though as the other poster says, her age makes for likely recovery in any case. If you have been trying unsuccessfully, I would agree with referral to reproductive specialists: the problem could be you as well, and both parties would need to be evaluated.

Blessings

endometrial cancer pcos

I have PCOS-What are my chances of getting cancer?

I found out I have PCOS two months ago and have started glucophage 500mg three times a day. I am just curious what my chances of getting breast, cervical, and endometrial cancer are? I am told that my risk is greatly increased based on the PCOS alone. Thanks.

I have PCOS myself and I have done a lot research on it. If you are having periods regularly or nearly regularly then you are safer from not having uteran or cervical cancer. Breast cancer is usually in a different boat all together. If breast cancer runs anywhere in your family then you have a higher chance of getting it. But even if you don’t have breast cancer running in your family you could still get it. That’s why it’s important to get regular screenings. In fact you should get regular screenings and pap smears, ect on a yearly basis. Usually the breast cancer screenings only need to be checked once every three years. But if you want to keep tip top check on everything then do it every year. Keep your doctor informed of your concerns and ALWAYS trust in your instincts and what your body is telling you. Research until you can’t possibly research anymore! The more information you have on hand the easier it will be in the long run to cope with the condition PCOS. No need to freak out or panic at all. It’s a condition that is thankfully contained if you do the things you are supposed to do! Keep a proper diet and excersise in your life most importantly. There are many support groups in Yahoo Groups. I have joined several myself on PCOS and I have found a lot of the information given there extremely helpful. Good luck to you my fellow PCOS sister!

oral cancer and smoking

oral cancer and smoking
I recently discovered a small lump under my jaw. It hurts when I touch it and i need to know about oral cancer?

I am exposed to secondhand smoke daily, (my mom smokes) and if I do have cancer, are there any good hospitals in St. Louis for cancer?

Most likely a swollen lymph node. These occur commonly as part of your body’s defense against bacteria and viruses. Have you had a cold lately, or a sore throat? These are likely to lead to swollen lymph nodes. Keep an eye on it, if it’s a swollen lymph node it should soon stop hurting and decrease in size, although you may still be able to feel it under your skin. Don’t poke it too much or you’ll make it more sore! If it’s still sore in a few weeks, then you can think about going to the doctor (but I still doubt it’s cancer).

Smoking kills, but smoking ads?
